Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH Expels 29 Students For Exam Malpractice and Fake Results

No fewer than 29 students of the Yaba College of Technology (YabaTech), were expelled by the management of the institution for presenting fake certificates and examination malpractice.

There expulsion was confirmed by the the Deputy Registrar of the institution, Mrs Titilayo Obadimu.

Speaking to our correspondent, Mrs Titilayo Obadimu, said on Friday in a statement that of the number, some were expelled for examination misconduct during the 2014/2015 first semester.

She said the academic board had approved the expulsion of the students.

According to Obadimu, using fake certificates to secure admission contravene the rules and regulations of the institution.

“The board considered the report on students with fake certificates or who have made alterations on their documents and cases of misconduct by students during the first semester of 2014/2015.

Sixteen full-time Higher National Diploma students and three B.Sc. full-time students presented fake or altered National Diploma (ND) results.

“Five ND students, three HND students and two B.Sc. students were expelled for examination malpractice.

“The students presented fake or altered National Diploma results to register for HND programmes in violation of the institution’s rules and regulations.

“Affected students are advised to hand over all college property including student identity cards in their possession to the various heads of departments, the Libarian and the Dean of Students’ Affairs with immediate effect,“ the official said.

Obadimu listed the affected departments as Civil Engineering, Computer Education, Accountancy, Business Education, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Biochemistry.

Others are Microbiology, Industrial Technical Education, Environmental Biology, Book Publishing, Estate Management and Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
