Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize Nomination 2015 Has Commenced
Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize application has commenced. A call has been made to Nigerian teachers to apply for the $1 million (N199m) Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize awarded to exceptional teachers who has made outstanding contribution to the profession in his/her sphere of service.
The Foundation, a philanthropic arm of GEMS Education, a United Kingdom-based group, instituted the prize at a global education summit held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) earlier this year, to celebrate teachers for their achievements and enormous impact on people across the world.
Eligibility:
The award is open to teachers in every kind of school, working teachers who teach children that are in compulsory schooling and head teachers with teaching responsibilities.

The winner will be chosen by the prominent Global Teacher Prize Academy made up of head-teachers, educational experts, commentators, journalists, public officials, tech entrepreneurs, company directors and scientists from around the world.
The winner would be announced at the Global Education and Skills Forum next year March in Dubai, United Arabs Emirate (UAE).
The 2014 prize was awarded to its first recipient, Nancie Atwell, an English teacher from Maine, United States of America last March at an event that had government representatives, ministers and stakeholders in education in attendance.
Closing Date: The award nominations and application closes on Sunday October 10, 2015.
