UNN Student Selected For The 11th Edition of the Google Summer of Code Programme.
Mr. Ilo Calistus , a students of University of
Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has been selected to
represent Nigeria at the 11th edition of the
Google Summer of Code programme.
The final year student of the department of
Computer Science and UNN Google Student
Ambassador will work with Syster, an Anita
Borg Institute based in United States and
contribute to the 55 million lines of code
which has been written so far for the
development of an Android App for Peace
Corp volunteers.
This year about 1,051 students will be
participating; representing a total of 73
countries. Each of the students will be
required to work for a period of 12 weeks
with the organization he or she will be
assigned to.
The Google Summer of Code which began
in 2005 is a program that offers student
developers stipends to write code for
various open source projects for top
technology companies like Google, Mozilla,
Encyclopedia of Life, etc.
