Reasons some universities do not accept second choice
- Most Federal Universities only consider candidates who chose them as MOST PREFERRED, If you select a Federal University as your SECOND MOST PREFERRED, you are simply saying, “I just need something to fill-in the empty space”, chance are, you will NEVER make it, unless they have new courses that are not accredited yet, then they might consider using you to experiment on the course. #funny huh?
- Depending on the population that chose a particular school as first choice, the school may decide not to invite 2nd choice candidates in other to be able to handle the teeming population of applicants. For instance, schools like UNILAG, ABU, UNIZIK, UNILORIN, UI, etc often have many applicants per year.
- It is also possible that the school is interested in the best students, and as such will respect those who put them to high esteem by making them their first choice.
From experience and Statistics, we have discovered that majority of candidates admitted into Federal Universities in Nigeria are those who select the institution as their 1st Choice.
