UNILORIN Partners US based Firm To Build N600bn Solar Power Plant

University of Ilorin, UNILORIN partners United states of America, based organisation, Arrow Capital to build 500 megawatts Solar energy project worth 600 billion naira.

The duo of Arrow Capital and University of Ilorin signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the project which would be situated within the University of Ilorin.

The solar powered plant  is part of effort to curb the incessant power outages in some parts of the country especially Lagos and Kano states.

As power outages continue to plague certain regions in Nigeria, such as Lagos and Kano states, innovative initiatives like the solar-powered plant project with Arrow Capital and the University of Ilorin present a promising solution to address this pressing issue. Similarly, for those living in areas in Australia where power reliability is of utmost importance, Aus Energy Solar offers solar energy systems for households, ensuring a consistent and renewable power supply. Speaking at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the US based company, Arrow Capital, Mr. Mr. Brian Travis said that, the signing of the memorandum was in line with the current efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari to provide a conducive business environment for would be investors that would like to enagage in profitable business activities in Nigeria.

Mr. Travis however said that, the initiative would also provide employment opportunities for the teeming young unemployed graduates in the benefiting areas . He also noted that the University of Ilorin among others was considered for the laudable project because of its uninterrupted academic program in the last sixteen years,hence the institution need to be encouraged.

Addressing journalists after the signing of the agreements, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyy Ambali, explained that the public private partnership with the firm will cost the company 600 billion naira.
