UNILORIN Fresher Notice: What Your Attitude Should Be To University Activities/Programmes?
As a fresher/new student of University of Ilorin,Unilorin, you must take note of all the listed notice below, you should try and comply with the following if you must be a decent student of Unilorin:
UNILORIN Fresher Important Notice
An adage says “An individual’s attitude
determines his/her altitude”. As a
university student, you should:
•1. Attend University programmes promptly
and regularly ( Eg. lectures, games and
seminars).
•2. Ensure that you benefit maximally from
programmes organised by the
University.
•3. Seek information on the benefits of
programmes organised by the
University.
•4. Participate fully in academic and other
related activities.
•5. Do your assignments regularly and
learn from the corrections.
•6. Do not waste your precious time on
activities that are not educative.
•7. Ensure that you work hard from the
beginning to the end of the semester.
•8. Always read your textbooks and do not
depend solely on lecture notes.
•9. Get enrolled in a study or brain-storming
group in order to learn from others.
•10. Obtain past questions from your
colleagues (seniors) and use them in
preparing for tests and examinations.
•11. Prepare a personal study timetable for
effective time-management.
•12. Ask questions on areas that you do not
understand from your lecturers or course
mates.
•13. Do not procrastinate. Do your academic
work without delay.
•14. Practice over learning while studying.
For instance, read the same text many
times to ensure proper mastery.
•15. Avoid rote-learning or memorization,
but read to understand. Rote-learning
could lead to “black out”, a form of
forgetfulness.
•16. Make proper use of the library to widen
your scope of knowledge.
•17. Create interest in academic activities.
•18. Relax when you are bored and do not
overwork or force yourself to read.
•19. Avoid being playful as playfulness leads
to failure.
•20. Put your points on a jotter and review
the points before you go to sleep and first
thing in the morning.
•21. Make positive statements to yourself
e.g.
¤a. “I can make it if I work hard”
¤b. “Failure is not my portion”
¤c. “Come what may, I must succeed”
¤d. “I must overcome laziness”
•22. Practice diagrams and illustrations. This
will aid your understanding of what you
have learnt.
