NUC To Withdraw Accreditation For BSU Law Faculty
The Nigerian Universities Commission, NUC To Withdraw Accreditation For Benue State University, Makurdi, BSU Law Faculty
According to news reaching ngschoolz.com team, The Vice Chancellor of Benue State University, Makurdi (BSUM), Prof. Msugh Kembe has stated that the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education (CLE) is set to withdraw the accreditation of the law faculty of the institution.
Speaking at a media briefing in Markudi, the VC said that the requirement for a fully accredited law faculty of any university in the country were a well furnished mute court, law building, law clinic and library as well as proper mix of professional staff which BSU has not met.
Kembe stated that the law faculty would need N119 million to construct the buildings in order to meet the council’s requirements.
However, the vice chancellor said the university cannot afford the construction now due to the nationwide financial crunch.
Prof. Kembe lamented that the sum of N100m was released during the Governor Suswam administration to a contractor for the execution of projects in the faculty, but that the contractor failed to deliver the job.
The VC added that the contractor had claimed it was owed a balance of N59m which it said the university should offset before the projects would be completed.
