How To Retrieve Lost Centre/Exams Number WAEC, NECO or NABTEB. Have you misplaced your NECO examination number? Lost Your NECO Center Number? Your WAEC Exam Or Center Number? Here Is The Easiest And Fastest Way To Retrieve Your Lost Details.

Retrieve Lost Centre/Exams Number

The national examination council, NECO has a unique 10 digit alphanumeric number it gives each of its candidates. The number serves as the student’s identity, it can also be used to check NECO results when it is released.

The NECO exam number has eight numbers and two alphabets in capital letters. Here is an example; 20514564AD.

These numbers are unique to each student in different years. For example, your NECO exam number for this year might be another person exam number in a different year.

How to Retrieve NECO Examination Number

NECO has not officially released the way it formulates the exam numbers. Unlike NECO, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) is transparent on how it formulates WAEC exam numbers; 7 of the numbers are the WAEC centre number while the last three are the seat numbers.

Visit a NECO office in your state and provide the following information;

  • Full name.
  • Year of the exam.
  • Name of school where the exam was written.

Armed with this information, a national examination council official will run a search on the NECO database with the information you provided. Viola! your NECO examination number would be given to you.

As at the time of publishing this article, NECO does not charge its candidates to retrieve exam numbers. However, policies may change in the future. So, it’s smart to go to the NECO office with some money.

How to Get Lost NABTEB Centre/Exams Number Back

As at the time of this post, NABTEB doesn’t give an official list of their centres and their attached numbers. Hence, you may not have direct access to such information through me.

1. Check Online for the Exams Number: However, I had done some findings for you. I got a link to the list of their centres up to 2017.

It’s possible that, by the time you are (or anyone else is) reading this post, the exams body has restored the list. You can copy and paste the link to your browser – http://demo.nabtebnigeria.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/NABTEB_CENTRES.pdf

You may be lucky.

Meanwhile, if it opens by any chance, it may still not contain the centre numbers. If it does, best of luck.

2. Travel Back to the Centre, Call the Coordinator or Send a Proxy

If the suggestion above doesn’t work, you should consider traveling back to the town of your exams and ask for this number directly from the centre.

Those centres should keep records of individual applicants too.

You can skip that hurdle if you still have phone access to the centre or there’s anybody who can help you get their number.

Another means is to send a person you know in the town or around to help you contact the centre and get their number.

3. Contact a Candidate for the Same Exams

In most cases, candidates who still have access to a friend or colleague that wrote the exams at the same centre with them can get the centre number form such other candidates.

Once your old friend still has his exams slip or photocard with them, he can help you with the centre number.

This works even for those people who had forgotten both the centre number and their seat numbers.

Once you know someone behind or in front of him during the exams, you get your way out.

What you do is get the candidate in front or at the back and ask for his or her number.

Then, you add 1 or minus 1 from the seat number to get yours.
