HMO Seeks Partnership On Health Insurance For Corps Members

The Managing Director of the organization, Surgeon Commander AA Abdullahi (Rtd), made this known during a courtesy visit today at the NYSC Directorate Headquarters, Abuja.

Commander Abdullahi, who remarked that Corps members are essential agents of development, equally noted that the Scheme required a sustainable arrangement that will guarantee the provision of quality healthcare services for them in the course of their service to the nation.

Said him: “The NYSC Scheme needs to evolve a health system for Corps members as a sign of commitment that the nation appreciates and cares for them.”

He further stated that his HMO, which functions under the National Health Insurance Scheme, coordinates the provision of healthcare services for both serving and retired members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, and wished to use its presence across the country to extend such services to corps members.

Responding, the Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, expressed gratitude to MD over the visit; describing it as timely and a good opportunity to work with the organization for the benefit of Corps members.

Kazaure also reminded his guest that the Federal Government recently approved the inclusion of Corps members in the National Health Insurance Scheme.

He, however, said the Scheme was awaiting guidelines from the government on the implementation of the programme.
