History To Be Made Mandatory In Schools-Sokoto Sultan
According to the news reaching us today,The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alh.
Saadu Abubakar, has called for history to be
made compulsory in Nigerian schools in
order to enable the young generations to
acquaint themselves with the historical
development of the country and its leaders.
According to the Sultan, who made the
remark during the commemoration of the
10th year anniversary of Emir of Gwandu in
Birnin Kebbi, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu
Iliyasu Bashar, the young generation needs
to know the history of their country and
traditional institutions in order for peace,
love and education to be promoted.
Abubakar said that it is only through history
that young people will be able to know their
status and role in the society.
The event was attended by the Governor of
Kebbi state, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; his
deputy, Samaila Yombe, Emirs of Argungu
and Zuru, district heads, politicians and top
government civil servants.
