The Federal Government has declared Thursday, October 1st, 2015, as public holiday to mark the country’s 55th Independence day celebration.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, made the declaration on behalf of the FG in a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press, Yusuf Isiaka, on Monday.

The Permanent Secretary called on Nigerians, both at home and in diaspora, to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for peace and unity across the country.
