Establishment of New Universities In Nigeria Increases Unemployment – NDE DG
Following the creation of new/more universities in Nigeria increases unemployment, The Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, has stated that the creation of more universities is increasing the unemployment situation in the country.
According to the DG, instead of establishing
new universities, the government should
focus their attention on small scale
businesses that could provide employment
for the majority of the populace.
Mohammed, who made this dislosure at the
conclusion of the training of 400 youths in
Ogun State, added that failure to solve the
unemployment challenge could result in
frustration and give rise to youth
restiveness, prostitution and robbery,
among others.
The training, which was tagged, ‘NDE
Enterprises and Finance Counseling Clinic,’
was developed to equip unemployed
graduates of tertiary institutions with
business skills.
The DG was represented by the NDE Co-
ordinator in Ogun State, Femi Oyenakan, at
