Bayero University, Kano has always viewed accreditation exercise as positive avenues through which our activities are mirrored by others in order to assist us improve and consolidate in our quest to achieve academic excellence.
This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello when he received a team of accreditation experts from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria in his office during a courtesy call on Tuesday 17th November, 2015.
Professor Yahuza Bello stated that BUK’s Nursing Science programme has received great attention, adding that at the moment all that was needed for a standard training in medical science (Nursing Science inclusive) had been put in place including a well equipped library. This according to the vice-chancellor was the reason why the Nigeria Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria in agreement with NUC raised BUK’s MBBS admission quarter from 100 to 150, second only to University of Ibadan which has 180.
He said the ambition of BUK was to become a centre of excellence in teaching and research in medical science, saying that with the establishment of Centres of Research in Advance Medical Research and Infectious Diseases, BUK is gradually moving towards achieving its desire of excellence in Medical field.
Earlier, the team leader, Dr. Modupe O. Oyetunde told the Vice-Chancellor that they were in BUK to assist the university improves in the running of its Nursing Science programme. She said BUK deserved commendation for running Nursing Science programme, a discipline many universities are afraid of running.
