The Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called off the industrial action embarked upon by its members.

The suspension was announced by the union Chairman, Dr David Ikoni, after a peace meeting between the ASUU leadership, representatives of the University management and the state government.

He said lecturers were satisfied with the commitment of Governor Samuel Ortom to the agreement.

The union leader, however, said that the lecturers would not hesitate to embark on strike again if the governor failed to keep his promise.

In his reaction, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Charity Angya, said the governor would do his best to ensure the school is not shut down again.

She advised both staff and students not to waste time in resuming back to work to make up for the lost time.
