ATA Poly Students Protesting for the Removal of The Rector
Students of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic,
ATAP,yesterday staged a protest seeking the
removal of Mr Bala Azare, the Rector of the
institution.
It was learnt that the students blocked
entrances to the school and disrupted
smooth vehicular movement around the
area.
The students who were carrying placards
with various inscriptions accused the Rector
of corruption , injustice and the poor state
of facilities in the school.
They claimed that the management of the
institution in connivance with the rector
embezzled the funds of the institution to
the tune of several millions of naira and
acquired properties of the institution
illegally.
Efforts made by the police to calm the
students yielded no result as the students
were seen throwing stones at the policemen
and set bonfires.
Police had no choice but to apply minimum
force to forestall a further break don of law
and order.
Currently normalcy has been restored in
the institution.
