ASUU Declares One Week Warning Strike
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU Have Declared A One Week Warning Strike From Thursday 16th November to 22nd November 2016. This was made known in a bulletin released after their NEC meeting November 12th.
Some of the issues being protested by ASUU includes funding for revitalization of public universities based on federal government and ASUU memorandum of understanding of 2009, non-release of subvension of state universities by their visitors and registration of NUPEMCO.
Other lingering issues are payment of earned academic allowance (EAA) and shortfalls in salaries leading to payment of fractions of staff salaries.
According to ASUU, the strike is total and comprehensive with no teaching, examination or any other routine activities of any kind.
