Apply For UNIPORT MA & PGD Programmes In Gender And Women Development 2015/2016
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Master of Art (MA) Degree and Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes in Gender and Women Development Studies of the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
1. Main Objectives of the Programmes
The Programmes are interdisciplinary and focus on men and women issues to provide the required knowledge for achieving positive gender relations for effective collaboration of human population in different environments. Among other things, opportunity is provided for men and women to an in-depth engagement in the revitalization, transmission and continuous delivery of research-based information on gender equity and women development.
2. Admission Requirements
(a)Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD): To qualify for admission into the Post-Graduate Diploma Programme, a candidate must possess a Third Class Degree or its equivalent with a CGPA of 1.50 points on 5-point scale of the University of Port Harcourt in any field. For candidates with HND background, a minimum of Lower Credit shall be considered.
(b) Master of Art (MA): For admission in the Master of Art (MA) Programme, a candidate must possess, at least, a Second Class Honours, Lower Division in Gender and Women Development Studies or a Degree in Social Sciences / Humanities / Education from any recognized tertiary institution, with a CGPA of 3.00 on 5-point scale of the University of Port Harcourt; or a minimum grade of Merit at Post-Graduate Diploma level in Gender and Women Development Studies.
3. Duration of the Programmes
The minimum duration for Full-Time studies for MA or PGD is twelve (12) calendar months, while the minimum duration for Part-Time is twenty-four (24) calendar months.
4. Method of Application

On payment of a non-refundable sum of N20,500.00 only (inclusive of bank charges), Bank Payment Print-out enables prospective candidates to obtain the from the Office of the Director, Patience Jonathan Centre for Gender and Women Development Studies (PJC-GWDS), University of Port Harcourt.
5. Submission of Completed Application Forms
Completed Application Forms, together with academic transcripts, two reference letters and other relevant documents should be returned to the Director, Patience Jonathan Centre for Gender and Women Development Studies (PJC-GWDS), University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, not later than six weeks from the date of this publication.
