ABUAD Set to Represent Africa at 2015 Microsoft Imagine Cup Competition
This is very exciting and interesting as The team from Afe Babalola University, Ado-
Ekiti (ABUAD) will represent Africa at this
year’s Microsoft Imagine Cup competition
holding next month in Seattle, United
States.
The team, known as Team Lifewatch, defeated other African teams from Burkina Faso, South Africa, Uganda, Egypt, Angola, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia to qualify for the grand finale.
The students, Adeyemo Oluwaseun, Sobola
Timilehin, Raymond Obinaju and Kevin
Ahwin, entered the competition by
developing a device which is used for
managing asthma effectively in children,
called Asthmavisor.
AsthmaVisor Solution consists of a mobile
application operating with a wearable
device, which monitors asthmatic patients’
health status, ensuring that they stay safe
and well informed of their environment.
It helps patients to be more conscious of
their environment while also serving as a
reminder of their physicians’ recommendations.
The software also provides an automatic
alert, which is triggered by changes in
environmental condition as detected by the
sensors in the device.
