50 BUK Students Are Beneficiary of N2.5m Jifatu Scholarship

A total number of Fifty(50) students, drawn from different Faculties of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), have benefited from the Jifatu Scholarship scheme, with each student awarded fifty thousand Naira (N50,000) each.

The scholarship, which is in its third year, is being given to indigent students of the University who are thoroughly examined and selected by a liaison committee, headed by Dr. Sagir Saleh of Anatomy Department.

Speaking during the disbursement of the money to beneficiary students, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, who was represented by the Dean, Student Affairs, Prof. Isma’il Muhammad Zango, challenged wealthy individuals and corporate organizations to emulate the gesture of Alhaji Sabitu Jifatu, who championed the course of scholarship in Northern Nigeria.

He tasked the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously.

In his speech, Dr. Sagir Saleh enjoined the beneficiaries to always remember this humanitarian gesture and pray to the donor and his family.

The Deputy Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Shamsuddeen Umar urged the students to reciprocate the gesture by helping others too.

The representative of Alhaji Sabitu Jifatu, Alhaji Usman Sabitu, said the scheme was introduced to bridge the education gap and is awarded in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Aliyu Abubakar Ibrahim from Faculty of Law expressed their sincere appreciation to the donor, the Alhaji Sabitu Jifatu and the committee that found them worthy beneficiaries.
